Tri-City Hockey League Announced for U11-U18

PA Hockey is thrilled to announce the launch of the brand new Tri-City Hockey League (TCHL) which will be the new home of its U11 to U18 non-AA divisions beginning this season.

Prince Albert is joined by North Battleford and Meadow Lake as founders and governors of the league, which will provide “A” and “B” divisions at every age level.

“After much discussion throughout the summer, the PA Hockey Board of Directors has enthusiastically supported this step to found the Tri-City Hockey League along with North Battleford and Meadow Lake, which will ultimately allow our players to compete at an appropriate level all the way through their minor hockey careers” said PA Hockey General Manager Trevor Redden.

In an effort to keep travel to a minimum, the TCHL will focus on “showcase weekend” formats. On a dedicated weekend each month, teams in the same age group and division will meet in one centre and play multiple games in a day.

“It was crucial to find a balance of adding this level of competition for our players, while keeping travel and costs in mind. Especially at the U11 and U13 levels where we are moving away from a fully in-house league, we needed it to make sense for our families and we believe this format makes it work.”

U7, U9, and U11C divisions will continue to be run as PA Hockey house leagues, maintaining grassroots hockey at a fully local level for all participants.

PA Hockey would like to thank the Battlefords and Meadow Lake minor hockey associations for their hard work in creating this new league. PA Hockey would also like to recognize and thank the Sask Valley Hockey League and those associated for the many successful seasons up to this point.

Scheduling of the TCHL will take place in October. More details to follow.
